Attentive Integration Setup

Attentive is an SMS platform that is popular among brands that like to send SMS messages.

Attentive is very possessive over their popups.

So here's how we've found the best way to get started with Attentive.

Gain access to the client account via email.

From there when you login we'll need to create an app.

Click Marketplace in the left hand menu then click "Create App"

From there we'll want you to type in the following -

App Name: Formtoro

Contact email: jon@boonrd.com

App Categories: Customer data platform, analytics

Short Description: Collects zero party data during signup.

We need some permissions:

Custom Attributes: Write

Custom Events: Write

eCommerce: No Access

Privacy Request: No Access

Product Catalog: No Access

Subscribers: Write

You should then be able to generate an API key

This key will ONLY BE GENERATED once, so save it in a safe place, else you'll have to redo the integration if you repopulate it and reconnect Formtoro to Attentive later.

go to https://app.formtoro.com/integrations/(dialog:attentive/activate)

Then enter your secret API key, your account will now be connected.

Alternatively, you can go to your Formtoro dashboard, navigate to Integrations in the left hand menu and click "Connect to Attentive".

The next step requires Attentive's help.

We need them to create a "sign up unit" for your new App.

Open up a chat and type, "New sign-up Unit request name Formtoro API, then instruct them that you are using the following disclaimer language on your form, 'By submitting this form, you agree to receive recurring automated promotional and personalized marketing text messages (e.g. cart reminders) from [COMPANY NAME AS IT APPEARS IN ATTENTIVE] at the cell number used when signing up. Consent is not a condition of any purchase. Reply HELP for help and STOP to cancel. Msg frequency varies. Msg and data rates may apply. View [TERMS LINK FROM ATTENTIVE] and [PRIVACY LINK AS IT APPEARS IN ATTENTIVE].'

This should fast track you to getting a sign-up unit created which will have and ID.

Then go back into Formtoro and go to a form you would like to connect that contains an SMS signup.

PART 2:

Login to Formtoro and navigate to the form you'd like to connect to Attentive.

Click integrations then click Attentive, you'll be prompted for the sign up unit that was created for you.

You can find your sign-up unit under "Sign-up Units" in the list in Attentive.

Sign-up unit requests can take up to 48 hours.

Once it appears you'll be able to use the ID to map the information back into Attentive.

Attentive will accept all the same profile fields as Klaviyo, so it may be helpful to open that integration in another window and copy and past the values by field.

Once you're done, click on "Activate Integration" and you'll be all set.
