Sendlane Setup Step by Step
The Sendlane integration is different from the Klaviyo integration in that we cannot automatically create customer profile fields, instead the fields need to exist prior to us mapping data to them.
Additionally, you’ll need to keep them in a list as we can’t pull existing fields directly from Sendlane currently, so the setup requires a bit more attention to detail.
Sign into your Sendlane account, then click on settings
Next click on “API”
From here we’ll want to create an API Key, click “+ API TOKEN” a modal will show up asking you to name it, enter the name of the integration. For example: formtoro_storename
Your new key will be created, copy it and save it somewhere special
Navigate to your Formtoro App and click on Integrations in the left hand menu, then click on Sendlane
Paste in your API key that you just created
You should see a confirmation message when successfully connected
Now we need to create profile fields in sendlane, unlike Klaviyo, these need to be created before we can map fields properly, click audience icon on the left, then navigate to the “Personalization” tab
Create a custom field for every property from your forms your are looking to push into Sendlane
To speed this up go to formtoro, click on an existing form if available, then navigate to custom properties
Now here are where things are a little different, unlike Klaviyo, Sendlane does not allow us to create profile fields on the fly, so create your forms as you have in the past, then determine what information you want to pass into Sendlane.
Go back into Sendlane and cut and paste the custom properties from Formtoro
All properties should be “Text” then click confirm.
You’ll see a new field appear
Repeat this process for all of your properties
Navigate to a form you are looking to map data from, then click “Integrations”
Then select “Sendlane”
Select the appropriate list
This next part is going to be manual and require you to cut and paste those exact same strings that you created from the form previously in the right places on this form.
You’ll have to repeat this process on all existing forms. Once your done copying the custom fields you created to map the corresponding data from Formtoro and click “Activate Integration”
IMPORTANT NOTE: YOU’LL WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT YOU USE YOUR CUSTOM FIELDS AS THE “STEP NAMES” IN FORMTORO
You can submit a test form and you should see the information added to a customer profile:
